5 Common Chiropractic Techniques for Back and Neck Pain
Chiropractic Care Center in South Tampa offers quality holistic and chiropractic care for all sorts of situations. Many of the most common complaints we hear involve recurring back and neck pain. Fortunately, Dr. Dean Brown and his staff are ready and able to work with you to determine the best approach for your specific situation.
Here are a few of the most common solutions for neck or back pain:
Soft Tissue Therapy
This treatment focuses on muscles and ligaments surrounding the spine rather than manipulating vertebrae directly. By essentially "massaging away" scar tissue and other toxified tissue, circulation is improved and your body is better able to heal and strengthen itself.
Gonstead Technique
The most common method for treatment of back and neck pain. Your chiropractor locates specific problem areas along the spine and makes appropriate adjustments. Realignment reduces inflammation, which in turn eliminates discomfort. Sometimes x-rays are utilized for even greater precision.
Logan Technique
Logan technique uses precise, targeted pressure around the base of the spine to alleviate tension and improve spinal balance. It used to be standard treatment for a range of spinal issues. While less common today, it may still be utilized if your chiropractor determines it’s the most effective solution for your neck or back pain.
Diversified Technique
When your chiropractor applies pressure with their palms, resulting in those infamous “popping” sounds, this is the treatment they’re using. It’s most commonly used to deal with herniated disks – arguably the most common source of back pain and neck pain.
Flexion-Distraction
This is a less-common technique which decompresses the spine by using careful pressure to “stretch” each section. It’s sometimes used to treat herniated or ruptured discs as well as arthritis or back pain caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve.
