Sciatica Treatment Options:

When it comes to sciatica, there's no shortage of treatments. See what's new, what's natural, and what's tried and true for sciatic nerve pain I have discovered that the best sciatica treatment can be natural, doesn't require addictive prescription pain medications, can alleviate sciatica pain without surgical intervention and may just require some sciatica exercises you can do at home!

In our office we teach about sciatica exercises, symptoms, causes, therapy, and pain relief. Sciatic nerve irritation causes pain that radiates down the leg from the low back or behind the thigh to below the knee. Sciatica affects many people. “Sciatica” refers to pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling in the leg. Because sciatica is a symptom of another medical condition, the underlying cause must be discovered to guide us to the right treatment options.

X-ray is often used first. However, most patients with sciatica can be treated without the need for further diagnostic imaging like MRI scans. The goal of treatment is to decrease pain and increase mobility. While sciatica is most commonly (90%) a result of a lumbar disc herniation, any cause of irritation or inflammation of the sciatic nerve can produce the symptoms of sciatica.

Although pain associated with your sciatica can be severe, most cases resolve with just conservative treatments in a few weeks, allowing you to avoid surgery.
